According to Section 22 of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), every employee at a mine has the following duties with respect to health and safety:
Take reasonable care to protect their own health and safety – Employees must ensure their actions do not put themselves at unnecessary risk.
Take reasonable care to protect the health and safety of others – Employees must be mindful that their actions or omissions do not endanger their colleagues or other persons at the mine.
